Epic Rap Battles of History (Youtube Channel) - Infamuz RECOMMENDATION

Epic Rap Battles of History (Youtube Channel) - Infamuz RECOMMENDATION

There are many reasons I love the internet. One of the many is running into something and it blows you away. This was the case with this Youtube channel.

First let me say that this is not about any actual historical rappers. This is about a channel which people play fictional or historical characters and battle (rap) against each other.

I heard about this channel before, but I never wanted to give it much of a chance. I'm a rap fan, so I didn't really want to see an overly corny version of it. As good as the internet can be, it can also be disappointing, you sometimes have to sift through a lot of dirt to get some gold. If I was going to watch one of these I wanted to be invested in the characters who are battling. The best battle raps get really personal, therefore the more I knew about the characters, the better I could understand the attacks.

When I'd watch some of my geek videos, I kept hearing them recommend the channel. I would just push it away and think, "someday I'll watch it, but not right now. I'll sit down and look for an interesting one." Since the recommendations came from geeks, I didn't consider them the best judges for rap battles... But they did know comedy, and they were enjoying the videos.

Well, today (well, yesterday really... I have to proofread this thing after all) was the day my feed showed me a battle I would want to check out.

It was a regular day, and as I was winding down my evening by checking my Facebook page, answering messages, and posting funny pics I saw James Bond vs. Austin Powers and thought "Hmmm, I'd check that out."

Before, I didn't see any battles that I would want to hear. Alexander the Great rapping? ehhhh, Babe Ruth? ehhhhhh. But James Bond vs. Austin Powers? "OK feed, you've done your job well, my interest has been piqued."

Epic Rap Battles of History, where have you been all of my life?

This has all of the sharp wit of a great rap battle. The insults fly, the flows flow, and there is even a great "run in" (as it is known in the wrestling business) by a second Bond or "Classic Bond" (as I call him) that makes this a 3 way battle. A real funny and just awesome presentation. This was smooth, clever, sharp, to me just entertaining as hell. And of course it pays off that I know the characters and their history.

I would never publicly recommend that anyone smoke weed, but if you already do, then light one up and turn this shit on! You'll laugh, you'll "Woooo", your head will bounce to the beat and want more. I've only just started watching what this channel has to offer. Right after seeing that video I just wanted to rush to write about it. The question eventually became, is this about just one video or am I writing about the channel. Is it a one awesome video and the rest sucks?

Turns out the channel is solid. Now, I've watched maybe 7 videos or so, but I've only run into one that I thought was a little weak. I've mainly stuck to subjects I know, like Robocop vs Terminator, Michael Jordan vs Muhammad Ali, Deadpool vs Boba Fett, Jim Henson vs Stan Lee and so on. Most of them have been golden. Beats are repeated, but the deliveries are on point.

If you like hip hop or are a fan of these characters, I ask you to do yourself a favor and check them out. You'll smile, you'll smirk, you'll giggle, and maybe a belly laugh, but I know you will be entertained by at least those that I mentioned.

A special shoutout to Jim Henson vs Stan Lee. They're pretty cool, but I must say, the special "run in" in that video is just awesome (the character not the performer). He comes in like a boss and lays down some of the best verses in what I've listened to. I may be a little too partial as he's a person who I've looked up to since I've been old enough to respect the talented, inventive, good hearted people. He is a boss, and in that video he lets you know it.

Certify this an Infamuz Recommendation.

Shiny.
