Cock Fight
As it turns out, there is a new 'social battle' going on these days. As we know, the gays have been fighting very hard to be treated as equals and to have the same rights as everyone else. As you can imagine, there are a lot of people that don't just disagree with that notion, they would do anything and everything to prevent it from happening as it will lead to our 'eternal damnation' and all. But there are also people that just simply disagree with the topic.
A few days ago, Chick-Fil-A's COO Dan Cathy, in an interview for "The Baptist Press" expressed his thoughts on his conservative view on marriage and his support for organizations that lobby congress to make anti-gay laws. This, apparently, has gotten the gays, and gay supporters all up in arms. They even have gotten government officials to support their cause. Mayor Merino of Boston has said he is not willing to allow their business in his city unless they 'open up their policies'. This was followed by Chicago Mayor Emanuel also damning Chick-Fil-A, in order to try and get these bigoted views changed.
That's where this movement looses me as a supporter. Now don't get me wrong, I agree that any human being should be allowed to marry any other person that they choose. It's none of my business and I don't really care about how you lead you life as long as it doesn't negatively interfere with mine. I agree that Dan Cathy certainly seems like a closed minded person. And I also agree that people should protest the best way you can protest something like this, by hurting him in the open market. Boycott and picket and do all of those things that you feel will hurt this bigoted point of view. However, to think you can make a law or use some governmental means to hurt their business, is crossing a line.
The business itself has never (to my knowledge) discriminated against it's customers. It does not break any laws, it does not physically hurt anyone or put anyone in danger. COO Dan Cathy can and should be able to freely speak about his beliefs when he is asked. Us, as free people, should be able to boycott anything we feel like. And likewise, anti-gay supporters should come out and show support for their cause by way of the open market. But no laws should be passed in favor of one view over another.
Any man should not only be able to express himself freely, but also to do whatever he wants to with his money. We should not bring in 'the law' to settle this argument. This dispute is over a difference of opinion not an offensive act. The man didn't even come out in the middle of a parade and yell, "I hate the fags!!!" All he did was give an honest answer to a question in an interview for the mutherfucking "Baptist Press". I wouldn't expect a very liberal non-religious based answer from this man on this topic for this newspaper.
Mr. Cathy is not a rogue member of that religion that is saying these 'crazy things'. This is what the religion teaches today, and that is what this religious man said. He was asked about gay marriage and he just said he believes marriage should be between a man and a woman. I'm OK with him believing that. Again, it doesn't affect my life in a negative way. I'm very sure there are TONS of things that Mr. Cathy believes that I completely disagree with. It doesn't mean any laws should be passed because of it.
As a matter of fact, it is the government's job to protect Mr. Cathy's right to say that. It's covered in the most popular amendment of all time, the one they call "The First Amendment". As long as you do not break any laws because of it, this amendment is supposed to protect your right to say anything you want to. And to be quite honest, if you go after Chick-Fil-A, then you should also go after Churches, Temples, Mosques, and every other religious buildings that also discriminates against the gays. And we all know how scared the government is about going after religious institutions. The capital building is not where this fight is supposed to happen. The open market, however, is where this battle can and should be fought by the people not the government.
I realize that Mr. Cathy is currently very active in trying to actually bring 'the law' into this argument and either pass anti-gay laws, or block gay rights laws. This is what we cannot resort to. We should not make 'the law' repress people who we disagree with. If we do, then we are the same as Mr. Cathy and his supporters. Hurt this man's business and at the very least we can silence these repressive voices. But do this by community movements like boycotting and protesting.
Until Chick-Fil-A breaks a law, Governors and Mayors should stay out of it as public officials. I'm not saying that those people cannot have their own opinions. I'm also not saying that they should not voice their opinions, but as a public official they should do nothing to prevent another citizen from having an opinion. I do advise caution with voicing their opinions as their open market system is based on votes.
When asked, Infamuz Perspective contributor, Mugen has stated:
"Personally, I would not eat at another Chick-Fil-A ever again. Not necessarily because of this gay people bullshit, but because when I went there, to order a chicken sandwich, these bastards had the audacity to add pickles to my mutherfucking sandwich! Pickles meng! Pickles! The only thing I hate more than pickles, is eating mutherfucking pickles! So Fuck pickles and fuck these bigots!"
On that note, here is Jon Stewart's two cents about this:

No Olympics Due to Tweet
Ahhh, the Olympics. This is a magical time in the world when countries from the far reaches of our earth come together to compete to see who births the best athletes. One of the best attributes of the games is also it's most annoying. It's almost a shame that you have to wait 4 years for each try, but it is that very same element that ups the excitement level of the games. Anything can happen to athletes year to year, let alone four. If you miss the Olympics once due to injury you must wait another four years to try to win a medal. That's a total of eight years of training for a shot to compete in that stage. It is tough to blame them as it is the biggest stage (overall) in our world today.
This is the time when we pretend to give a shit about competitive swimming, gymnastics, water polo, trampolining, diving, synchronized 'mutherfucking' diving, and other such sports. And quite honestly it is the only time we get to see them on television. I must admit that I do get a kick out of watching some of it. I think watching people compete for such high stakes is more of a thrill than the actual sport. Like I don't think I'd watch trampolining on a run-of-the-mill tuesday evening. But I was watching this past Tuesday evening as they were playing for medals. Diving is something else I wouldn't watch, but because it was the Olympics, I took in the sport for a bit.
Of course, something that successful, is bound to have its dark side. Accusations of cheating and unfair judging have occurred in the past. And naturally, when you combine too many people together that are very different from one another, racism will eventually come into play. Yes, as inclusive as the Olympics are, we must not forget that they are made up of people, and not all of us are nice.
Racism has been a serious problem in the past. I don't even mean in America. Racism has been a serious problem ALL over the world at one point or another. Most of us can agree that it is a terrible thing. Racists are rightfully ridiculed and sometimes punished for their ignorant remarks. And there have been times when oversensitive people have cried racism when most would agree there was none.
Racism can be a tricky thing. In all actuality racism is subjective. What I find racist, may not be what you find racist. I mean, we can all agree on obvious things like a few years back when Kramer was doing his stand up and kept saying 'nigger' at his audience. I think we can all agree that it was a racist attack. Then there are attempts to hide a racist undertones like having the face of the Knick's asian point guard on your webpage after a loss with the words "Chink in the Armor" is an attempt at racial jab that ends up being more than a jab and clearly racist. But there are other times when something seems racist that isn't. Like when Gwyneth Paltrow Tweeted "Niggaz in Paris for Real". That may seem racist, if she was saying it about a bunch of random black guys she saw while she was in Paris. It is not racist if she's tweeting the picture of Global Superstars, Jay-Z and Kanye West, while performing their global hit called 'Niggaz in Paris', while at a concert IN mutherfucking Paris!
And then there is a bit of the 'middle ground'. Greek Triple jumper Voula Papachristou was removed from the olympics for a "racist" tweet she posted a little while ago. I dare say that the tweet was not racist. I'm not saying it wasn't stupid, I'm just saying it's not racist:
“With so many Africans in Greece… At least the West Nile mosquitoes will eat home made food!!!”
Is this a stupid comment? Yes.
Is this an uneducated comment? Yes.
Is this a tasteless comment? Yes.
Is this a funny comment? No.
Is this a racist comment? No, not in my opinion.
First of all she didn't just mention Africans out of the blue. There had been a small outbreak of the West Nile Virus in Greece that even killed a person. West Nile virus by its name alone, implies an African origin. I don't know what the black population in Greece is but I assume it is very small. So I could see that if an event that drew Africans to Greece would trigger her a stupid thought to come into her head. There's nothing wrong with that, we are only human. Her mistake was to publicize it.
I don't know about you guys, but I don't see how thats overly offensive. I mean West Nile Virus was first identified in the African country of Uganda in the West Nile sub-region. So many people associate this as where the virus comes from. The mosquitoes spread the disease as they 'ate' blood from the people in that continent, Africans.
In an uneducated way, she was just making an observation. Again, a stupid one, but not an offensive one. The comment does not blame the virus on Africans. The comment does not wish the virus on Africans. It is just a stupid comment from an athlete. I'm not sure if the rumor has spread to you, but athletes are not the smartest people in the world. As a matter of fact, stupidity is a trait usually associated with the athletically gifted.
Olympians train very hard for spots on their national teams. They forego their friends and family in order to meet the demands of pushing their bodies to the physical peak in order to compete in this global stage. So I would hope that if you are to remove someone from the tournament before they even compete, you would have a great reason to. This one seems shaky. It wasn't even the International Olympic Committee that booted the girl, it was Hellenic Olympic Committee (Greek Committee) that made the choice to ban the girl.
Nobody knew about this story when the girl made the tweet. Nobody cared, it didn't appear on any headlines. This only became a story once the Hellenic Olympic Committee suspended the girl for it. Again this was a very dumb thing for anyone to say, but I wouldn't go as far as to call it racist. And I definitely would NOT have crushed this girl's hard earned Olympic spot over it.

SKYFALL
James Bond is Back... again. Daniel Craig is still portraying the (to my opinion) best James Bond ever. For the first time in his run they are going to finally introduce Q. For those not in the know, Q is the man behind all of the James Bond gadgets that we've seen through the years. I know that in the original books, James Bond doesn't really play with many gadgets but the movies have left their mark on the character. The Daniel Craig era of James Bond has been with very few gadgets. I wonder what this Q will bring to the table. The gun that only James Bond can fire is cute and all, but its been done before, granted it was in the horrible Stallone Judge Dredd Movie but its nothing new. I'm hoping Q will bring his A game in this movie.
Django Unchained
It should be no secret that Quentin Tarantino is one of my favorite directors. I don't like every single thing he has done, but the man has laid out some classics. He's received well deserved attention for the brilliant movie "Reservoir Dogs". He's knocked it out of the park in the everlasting unbelievable classic "Pulp Fiction", and he's thrilled me as he has gone after Hitler in "Inglorious Basterds". This time He's doing a "Spaghetti Western" starring Jamie Fox, Leo DiCaprio, and Christoph Waltz. This movie looks to be a run-of-the-mill revenge story, but knowing Tarantino the way I do, I not only expect some twists, but more importantly, I expect some great, GREAT writing. I'll be catching this one on its opening weekend.
Amazon has some great freaking deals on Quentin Tarantino's movies I mentioned in DVD or Blu Ray:
