Cock Fight

As it turns out, there is a new 'social battle' going on these days. As we know, the gays have been fighting very hard to be treated as equals and to have the same rights as everyone else. As you can imagine, there are a lot of people that don't just disagree with that notion, they would do anything and everything to prevent it from happening as it will lead to our 'eternal damnation' and all. But there are also people that just simply disagree with the topic.

A few days ago, Chick-Fil-A's COO Dan Cathy, in an interview for "The Baptist Press" expressed his thoughts on his conservative view on marriage and his support for organizations that lobby congress to make anti-gay laws. This, apparently, has gotten the gays, and gay supporters all up in arms. They even have gotten government officials to support their cause. Mayor Merino of Boston has said he is not willing to allow their business in his city unless they 'open up their policies'. This was followed by Chicago Mayor Emanuel also damning Chick-Fil-A, in order to try and get these bigoted views changed.

That's where this movement looses me as a supporter. Now don't get me wrong, I agree that any human being should be allowed to marry any other person that they choose. It's none of my business and I don't really care about how you lead you life as long as it doesn't negatively interfere with mine. I agree that Dan Cathy certainly seems like a closed minded person. And I also agree that people should protest the best way you can protest something like this, by hurting him in the open market. Boycott and picket and do all of those things that you feel will hurt this bigoted point of view. However, to think you can make a law or use some governmental means to hurt their business, is crossing a line.
